[Today’s New Products] Large-Capacity Birak Sikhye for the Holidays... Zero Sujeonggwa

Strengthening Traditional Beverage Lineup Ahead of Lunar New Year

Paldo announced on January 22 that it will strengthen its lineup of traditional beverages ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Paldo’s flagship traditional drinks, Birak Sikhye and Birak Sujeonggwa, are products with concentrated sales during the holiday season. Birak Sikhye saw an 8.3% increase in sales during the most recent Lunar New Year compared to the previous year, and a 6.4% growth during the Chuseok holiday. For Birak Sujeonggwa, sales in January and August-which include major holidays-account for about 48% of its annual sales, indicating clear seasonal demand.

Reflecting these consumption patterns and recent consumer needs, Paldo is introducing two new products. First, 'Icheon Fresh Rice Birak Sikhye 1.5ℓ' is made with rice from Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, and contains about 30% more rice grains than the original Sikhye, delivering a deeper and richer traditional Sikhye flavor. This large-capacity product is a follow-up to last year’s popular canned 'Icheon Fresh Rice Birak Sikhye,' launched to suit the increase in family-sized consumption during the holidays.

'Birak Sujeonggwa Zero' is also being released. This is the first time a zero-calorie version has been introduced among Sujeonggwa products. While preserving the unique cinnamon and ginger flavors of Sujeonggwa, it reduces sugar and calorie content, offering more options for health-conscious consumers.

Min Hawon, Head of Marketing at Paldo, stated, "Birak Sikhye and Birak Sujeonggwa pioneered the market by being the first to commercialize traditional beverages in RTD form. By enhancing our traditional beverage lineup to meet holiday demand, we will continue to introduce products that can lead the traditional beverage market."
