On January 21 (local time), Volvo Cars unveiled its electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Volvo EX60, for the first time in the world in Stockholm, Sweden. Hakan Samuelsson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volvo Cars, described the model as "a game changer that will redefine every aspect-from driving range and charging to pricing-and marks a new beginning for both Volvo Cars and its customers." He added, "This is the culmination of what Volvo Cars can achieve, featuring a new product architecture with core technologies such as mega casting, cell-to-body, and core computing."

The EX60 offers a maximum driving range of up to 810 kilometers per charge (based on WLTP) for the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant, making it the longest range among Volvo’s electric vehicles to date. When using a 400kW ultra-fast charger, it can secure up to 340 kilometers of driving range with just a 10-minute charge.

The design, engineering, hardware, and software are seamlessly integrated to optimize driving range and deliver performance comparable to many internal combustion engine vehicles. The powertrain options include: the P12 AWD Electric with up to 810 kilometers of range; the P10 AWD Electric with up to 660 kilometers; and the rear-wheel drive P6 Electric with up to 620 kilometers. All variants come with a 10-year battery warranty.

Based on the next-generation electric vehicle architecture SPA3, the EX60 is powered by a new core system called "HuginCore." It incorporates technologies such as cell-to-body, next-generation in-house developed electric motors, a new battery cell design, and mega casting, all of which enhance energy efficiency and driving range. This model achieves the lowest carbon footprint among Volvo’s electric vehicles.

A Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system with 28 speakers is available as an option. This includes, for the first time in a Volvo vehicle, integrated speakers in all seat headrests. Apple Music, supporting Dolby Atmos for immersive spatial audio, comes standard.

Based on "HuginCore," the vehicle is designed to think, process, and respond autonomously. Through Volvo’s in-house technological capabilities and collaborations with global tech leaders such as Google, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm, this model is the most intelligent in the brand’s history. Equipped with Google’s AI assistant "Gemini," it enables natural and personalized conversations without the need to remember specific commands.

For the first time in the world, the EX60 features "multi-adaptive seat belts," providing smarter and more personalized protection for front-row occupants. Using data collected from advanced sensors inside and outside the vehicle, the system finely adjusts the protection level according to each occupant’s height, weight, body type, and seating posture, delivering optimal, customized safety. A safety cage reinforced with boron steel and cutting-edge technologies throughout the cabin ensure the highest level of protection.

Volvo Cars also unveiled its first-ever mid-size electric crossover SUV, the EX60 Cross Country. The ground clearance is raised by 20mm compared to the EX60, and can be increased by an additional 20mm with air suspension, offering greater stability in diverse driving conditions. Distinctive design elements include the exclusive "Frost Green" exterior color, Cross Country-specific wheels, skid plates, and wheel arch designs.

The EX60 will be produced in Sweden starting this spring, with customer deliveries beginning in Europe and expanding to other markets sequentially.
