"Hope for Citizens" ... Changwon Special City Invites Submissions for Korean Inspirational Phrases for the "Spring Edition"

The contest seeks original or quoted phrases of around 20 characters that suit the upcoming season of spring and convey warm comfort and hope to citizens. Any Changwon citizen is eligible to participate.

Citizens wishing to participate can download the application form from the city website, fill it out, and submit it either by emailing it to the city’s public relations officer, by mailing it (Public Relations Office, Changwon City Hall, 151 Jungang-daero, Seongsan-gu), or by visiting in person. Each person may submit only one entry. If submitting a quoted phrase, the exact source, such as the book title and publisher, must be specified.

The city will select the spring edition phrases through a review by the Changwon City Newsletter Editorial Committee. Those whose phrases are selected will receive a small honorarium.

The selected phrases will be introduced to citizens in the February 25 issue of the Changwon City Newsletter, as well as on the city hall and Yangdeok-dong electronic displays, and on 78 electronic bulletin boards (DID) installed throughout the city for municipal promotion.

Going forward, the city plans to select Korean inspirational phrases appropriate for each season to deliver messages of comfort and hope to citizens.

Lee Dongho, Chief of Korean Language Policy (Public Relations Officer) of Changwon City, said, "Sometimes, we are deeply moved by short phrases we encounter by chance on the street," adding, "I hope citizens will share the cherished phrases they hold dear to bring hope to our daily lives."

Meanwhile, from June to December of last year, Changwon City selected and introduced "Korean inspirational phrases from literary works" to citizens seven times. Through this initiative, the city helped citizens experience warmth and emotion in their daily lives, while also introducing local writers and their works.
