New "Restaurant Reservation" Filter Launched in Japan
Reservation-Available Restaurants Now Listed by Major Japanese Travel Destinations

On January 22, Naver announced that it has introduced a "Restaurant Reservation" search filter, allowing users to view at a glance restaurants in Japan that can be reserved, based on "Tabelog," Japan's largest restaurant information platform.

Tabelog is a restaurant search and reservation service in Japan, providing search, reservation, and reviews for approximately 890,000 restaurants across the country.

In August of last year, Naver partnered with Tabelog and, through data integration with its Place service, began offering information on restaurants in major Japanese cities. For certain restaurants, users can move directly to Tabelog to make real-time reservations.

Previously, users had to click on each individual restaurant and check the detailed information page to find out if reservations were possible. Now, by simply clicking the "Restaurant Reservation" filter, they can immediately see a list of restaurants that are available for reservation. For example, when searching for popular restaurants in major Japanese cities using keywords such as "Tokyo restaurants," the full list of restaurants appears. By clicking the "Restaurant Reservation" filter at the top left of the list, users are shown a separate list of restaurants that can be reserved through Tabelog.

On January 15, additional Japanese regions were included where users can view restaurants available for reservation. Even within major Japanese regions, users can now specifically check Tabelog-reservable restaurants in popular tourist destinations frequently visited by Koreans, such as Shinjuku and Dotonbori.

As the number of travelers to Japan continues to increase, the number of people using Naver's Tabelog integration service is also steadily rising. According to Naver, the click-through rate for the "Go to Tabelog Reservation" button in December of last year was approximately 2.8 times higher than in September.

Naver plans to expand its search coverage to a wider range of regions and restaurants in Japan through ongoing collaboration with Tabelog. Choi Jihoon, Head of Naver Place Search, stated, "We will continue to enhance the integration with Tabelog so that travelers visiting Japan can discover a variety of hidden local restaurants and easily make reservations."

Meanwhile, in March of last year, Naver introduced AI briefing to search results related to travel to Japan and added a section introducing recommended places to visit according to regional characteristics. As a result, as of December of last year, the number of clicks on search results for travel to Japan more than doubled compared to before the update.
