Special Law Briefing and Collection of Public Officials' Opinions at City Hall on January 23
Gwangju Metropolitan City will hold an employee briefing session to listen to concerns raised by public officials during the process of promoting administrative integration between Gwangju and Jeonnam.
According to the city on January 21, the city will host an "Administrative Integration Employee Briefing Session" at 10 a.m. on January 23 in the main conference room of City Hall. The session will be led by Planning and Coordination Office Director Lee Byeongcheol, who will explain the current status and future plans for administrative integration.
During the briefing, the city will introduce the special administrative integration law being prepared by Gwangju City and Jeonnam Province, and provide an opportunity for employees to ask questions and share their opinions. In particular, the results of a survey on perceptions of administrative integration, announced by the city’s public officials’ union on January 20, will also be shared.
The survey revealed that 80% of city public officials hold a negative view of the integration initiative. The main reason cited by public officials was concern over changes in working conditions, such as relocation of their workplaces after integration. In addition to Gwangju City public officials, firefighters from the Gwangju Fire Headquarters will also attend the briefing.
On January 22, Gwangju City will hold an additional briefing session at the Gwangju Human Resources Development Institute for public officials at grade 5 or above from the city, district offices, and public institutions. Furthermore, on February 2 and 6, the city plans to hold briefing sessions for public officials at grade 5 or below to explain the purpose and progress of the special law.
