Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced that it held the first meeting of the "Gwangyang City Gwangju-Jeonnam Administrative Integration Response Future Strategy Task Force Team" on the 20th at the City Hall Citizen Hall, with around 100 TF team members and related officials in attendance, initiating discussions on the direction of the administrative integration response.
The Gwangyang City Gwangju-Jeonnam Administrative Integration Response Future Strategy Task Force Team is a public-private consultative advisory body composed of local institution heads, leaders of social organizations, the city council, public agencies, representatives from the political, economic, and industrial sectors, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, education, social groups, labor, and youth. The team will collect a wide range of on-site opinions related to administrative integration and provide policy advice to help Gwangyang City establish its response strategy.

This meeting was organized to comprehensively assess the potential impact of the Gwangju-Jeonnam administrative integration on Gwangyang City as discussions on the integration are gaining momentum, and to explore response strategies that reflect the region's circumstances and characteristics.
During the meeting, participants shared the current status of the Gwangju-Jeonnam administrative integration initiative, followed by explanations and discussions focusing on the impact of the integration on local industries and the economy, and key issues to be reviewed in connection with Gwangyang City's future growth strategy. Attendees presented a range of opinions on the direction of future discussions and also proposed concrete communication measures, such as collecting online feedback, to meaningfully expand citizen participation.
An official from Gwangyang City stated, "The Gwangju-Jeonnam administrative integration is a critical issue directly linked to Gwangyang City's mid- to long-term development," adding, "We will continue the discussions to ensure that voices from various sectors are reflected in a balanced manner and that Gwangyang City's circumstances and characteristics are fully considered."
Meanwhile, Gwangyang City plans to use this first meeting as a starting point to fully launch the operations of the Future Strategy Task Force Team, continue additional discussions through collecting opinions and advice from each sector, and gradually establish a city-level response strategy.
