Yeosu City to Fully Revise City Bus Routes... Resident Briefing Sessions to Be Held

Gathering Public Opinions on Route Revisions Ahead of the Island Expo

Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province announced that it will hold a total of 27 resident briefing sessions in towns, townships, and neighborhoods from January 26 to February 6, ahead of the first full-scale revision of the city bus route system in 26 years.

The purpose of these briefing sessions is to explain the proposed city bus route revisions, which were developed to reflect changes in urban conditions and to prepare for the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, and to listen to a wide range of public opinions.

The main points of the proposed revision include restructuring the branch and trunk line transfer system, improving inefficient routes and introducing express buses, establishing new village bus and demand-responsive call bus routes, increasing the number of free transfers, and reorganizing the route numbering system.

Detailed information about the revisions and the schedule for the briefing sessions can be found on the Yeosu City Hall website and at local town and township community centers. For citizens who cannot attend the sessions, online feedback will also be collected.

To prepare this revision plan, the city has continuously gathered residents' opinions since last year through more than 50 on-site briefing sessions in towns, townships, and neighborhoods, as well as online surveys.

If sufficient public consensus is formed regarding the route system revision, Yeosu City plans to implement a pilot revision in the Dolsan area before the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, thoroughly address any issues, and then gradually expand the changes to the entire city starting next year.

A Yeosu City official stated, "As this is the first large-scale route revision in 26 years, we are carefully considering comprehensive measures to minimize inconvenience for citizens," and added, "We hope many residents will attend the briefing sessions to hear the explanations and share their valuable opinions."
