"Teachers Learn First"... Gangwon Office of Education Runs IoT Capstone Design Project Gangwon Provincial Office of Education has been conducting the "2025 Winter Vacation New Technology Training (Internet of Things (IoT) Capstone Design Project)" for high school teachers from the 19th to the 21st. Provided by Gangwon Provincial Office of Education

This training was held at the Chuncheon Campus of Korea Polytechnic University (III) in connection with the Dream Factory Project and focused on learning IoT development and programming technologies, as well as exploring the possibilities of applying them in educational settings.

In particular, the training was designed to enhance teachers' understanding of new technologies and emerging industries, strengthen their instructional capabilities, and improve teaching and learning competencies to support the effective operation of curricula in schools (and departments) pursuing the restructuring and reorganization of vocational high school programs.

The "Internet of Things (IoT) Capstone Design Project" course was structured around practical tasks and assignments, including: utilizing low-power System-on-Chip (SoC)-based ESP32 embedded boards; implementing automated and intelligent management systems through the integration of environmental sensors; and carrying out IoT-based capstone design projects.

Participating teachers experienced key elements of IoT implementation-such as sensor integration, data collection and processing, and control programming-in a project-based format, while also exploring teaching and learning methods that can be applied to lesson planning and practical instruction.

Kim Seongrae, Director of Secondary Education, stated, "This training focuses on understanding changes and technological advancements in new technology and emerging industries, and on enhancing teachers' practical skills for student guidance in school settings. Going forward, we will actively support the strengthening of teachers' competencies and the effective operation of curricula for the restructuring and reorganization of vocational high schools by providing various professional development opportunities."
