National Heritage Promotion Agency Accepting Applications Until February 10
For Ages 19 to 34... Performance Extended to Three Days
The National Heritage Promotion Agency announced on January 20 that it is publicly recruiting young artists to perform in the planned concert "Hwaeum" until February 10.
Launched in 2010, "Hwaeum" is the flagship performance brand of the Korea House of Culture, KOUS. It has become a gateway to the traditional arts scene, producing outstanding artists such as Gyeonggi folk singer Lee Heemoon, National Changgeuk Company star Kim Junsu, and Yoo Taepyeongyang.
The recruitment is open to young traditional artists aged 19 to 34 with exceptional talent. The selection categories are: ▲Yulgak (instrumental) ▲Gagak (traditional vocal) ▲Mugak (dance), with a double-digit number of artists to be selected.
This year, the event will be expanded to provide more opportunities for emerging artists. The performance period, previously two days, will be extended by one day and held over three days. The final selected performers will take the stage at the Korea House of Culture in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in April and May.
Applications can be submitted through the Naver online application system. Further details are available on the National Heritage Promotion Agency website.
