Standard APIs for Enhanced Financial Security and Communication Quality
Collaboration with SMEs to Foster Ecosystem Vitality
On January 20, LG Uplus announced that it has developed a 'Network Open API Platform' in collaboration with Ariatek, a small and medium-sized communication equipment manufacturer.
The Network Open Application Programming Interface (API) is a technology that standardizes the network functions owned by telecom operators, making them accessible to external developers and companies. Global telecom operators are currently working to commercialize this technology.

Through the Network Open API Platform, external developers can adopt verified network functions from telecom operators in the form of APIs, reducing the time and cost required for service development.
LG Uplus's Network Open API Platform provides APIs for device number authentication, SIM change information, device location information, device status information, device replacement information, and 'QoD' (Quality on Demand), which allows users to enhance communication quality at their desired time.
For example, banks can use the LG Uplus Network Open API Platform to compare a customer's mobile phone location information when withdrawing cash from an ATM, verifying the customer's identity and preventing financial fraud. Security services can also be strengthened, such as checking whether a cloned SIM card was used during identity verification processes.
LG Uplus collaborated with Ariatek, a domestic small and medium-sized enterprise, for the development of this Network Open API Platform. In 2024, LG Uplus entered into a partnership with other domestic mobile carriers to develop standardized open APIs and worked with the Telecommunications Technology Association of Korea, the national standards organization, to establish domestic API standards.
Lee Sangheon, Head of Advanced Development at LG Uplus, stated, "With the development of the Network Open API Platform, we have laid the foundation for creating innovative services that deliver new value to customers. We will continue to secure essential future network technologies to build a brighter and more sustainable world."
Koh Honggi, CEO of Ariatek, commented, "This joint development is a meaningful example of Ariatek's technology being realized within the standard API ecosystem established by LG Uplus. We will continue to work closely with LG Uplus to further advance the core infrastructure that will lead the next-generation telecommunications market."
