This agreement aims to expand the use of national research infrastructure, which is difficult for individual companies to access, to local businesses.
Under the agreement, the participating organizations will cooperate in the following areas: research and development and commercialization in advanced industries; testing, evaluation, certification, and business support for companies specializing in materials, components, and equipment; public offerings for business and R&D projects in advanced industries; utilization of research institute facilities and R&D equipment; and planning and implementation of customized R&D policy projects utilizing advanced technologies.
With this agreement, the city plans to further enhance the foundation for collaboration among government, industry, academia, and research institutes, together with organizations already attracted to Yongin such as the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the Yongin Intellectual Property (IP) Support Center, and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Trade Center.
Mayor Lee Sangil stated, "This agreement will enable local companies in Yongin to utilize research institute equipment and receive demonstration support," adding, "It will serve as a foundation for the development of advanced industries, including semiconductors."
