Seongnam City to Hold Completion Ceremonies from January 19 to 21
Facilities Now Usable Regardless of Weather Conditions Such as Heat Waves, Rain, or Snow
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has completed the installation of all-weather membrane roofs at four sports facilities-three gateball courts at Seommal Park, Jutaek Park, and Daewon Park, and one foot volleyball court at Ori Park. Completion ceremonies for these facilities will be held sequentially from January 19 to January 21.

The roofs installed at each facility are membrane structures, consisting of high-performance fabric stretched over oval-shaped steel frames. They are designed to effectively block strong sunlight, rain, and snow.
To accomplish this, the city invested a project budget of 1.773 billion won over the past year.
The schedule for the completion ceremonies is as follows: Seommal Park gateball court in Dochon-dong, Jungwon-gu on January 19 at 3:00 p.m.; Jutaek Park gateball court in Jeongja-dong, Bundang-gu on January 20 at 2:00 p.m.; Ori Park foot volleyball court in Gumi-dong, Bundang-gu on January 20 at 3:00 p.m.; and Daewon Park gateball court in Hadaewon-dong, Jungwon-gu on January 21 at 2:40 p.m.
Approximately 150 people, including Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin and local residents, will attend each ceremony, which will feature a progress report, commemorative speeches, congratulatory remarks, a ribbon-cutting, and a facility tour.

A Seongnam City official stated, "With the installation of membrane roofs, each sports facility can now be used regardless of weather conditions such as heat waves, rain, or snowfall. We hope these spaces will provide a safe and pleasant environment for residents to enjoy sports and connect with their neighbors."
The city also plans to install additional roofs using the same method at 12 more gateball courts and two badminton courts by May.
