Yangpyeong County Hosts "Communication Festival with Jipyeong Residents"
From "Memories of War" to a City of Peace... Opening a Forum for Dialogue
Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (headed by Mayor Yang Jinseon) continued its third week of engagement with residents by visiting Jipyeong-myeon, known as the hometown of the righteous army, on the 19th for the tenth event of the "2026 Communication Festival with County Residents."

The communication event, held on the first floor of the Jipyeong-myeon Welfare Center that morning, was attended by Yang Jinseon, Mayor of Yangpyeong County; Hong Jongbun, Head of Jipyeong-myeon; provincial and county council members; heads of local institutions and organizations; and about 100 residents of Jipyeong-myeon.
The first part of the event was dedicated to sharing the major achievements of Jipyeong-myeon from the previous year. These included the completion of Gudun Art Station, the expansion of the Jipyeong water reservoir, the successful hosting of the Jipyeong Traditional Fermentation Festival, and the creation of the Jipyeong-ri Barefoot Trail, allowing residents to review the progress made together.
Next, the future plans for the development of Jipyeong-myeon in 2026 were presented. These plans include the construction of the Jipyeong International Peace Park and Yangpyeong Museum, the extension of the Gyeongui-Jungang Line subway between Jipyeong, Yangdong, and Wonju, urban development around Guksu, Jipyeong, and Wondeok stations, and the establishment of public convenience facilities on the site of the abandoned railway. The long-term vision focuses on creating historical tourist attractions in the eastern region and expanding transportation infrastructure.
During the subsequent dialogue session with residents, various opinions closely related to daily life were raised, such as requests for the expansion and paving of roads and access routes, installation of village water supply systems and small bridges, renovation of facilities including streetlights at Jipyeong Leisure Sports Park, and suggestions for changes to bus timetables. Relevant department heads and officials were present to provide direct answers, ensuring practical two-way communication.
