Hallym Heart is an alumni organization that supports younger generations and engages in university-community partnership activities based on its alumni network. This scholarship was also established to help international students with academic determination and growth potential focus on their studies in a stable environment and contribute to the campus community based on their diverse cultural backgrounds.
The ceremony was attended by Lee Sungyong, Professor at Ilsong Liberal Arts College of Hallym University; Jeong Hosoon, Vice President of the Hallym University Alumni Association; members of Hallym Heart; officials from the Global Exchange Center; and the three scholarship recipients.
This scholarship is particularly meaningful because recipients were selected primarily from students who actively participated in the local settlement support program of the Gangwon RISE "International Student CITIZEN Project," conducted by the Hallym University Global Exchange Center. The selected scholarship recipients-Abdrasulova Nagima (Kyrgyzstan), Aleksanyan Milana (Turkmenistan), and Cao Xinyi (China)-were highly praised for balancing their academic pursuits with their roles as members of both the local community and the campus, thereby creating their own opportunities for growth.
Professor Lee Sungyong stated, "As an alumnus, the learning and experiences I gained at the university have become valuable assets in my life. I hope this scholarship will serve as a new stepping stone for our younger international students. I also look forward to the continued development of a Hallym community culture where people support one another, regardless of nationality or background."
Hallym University evaluated this scholarship award as a positive example of strengthening the bonds and mutual growth between alumni, current students, and the local community. The university plans to continue working with its alumni network to support international students in settling in and growing within both the campus and the local community.
