The Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced on January 19 that it had conducted a search and seizure at the residence and other locations associated with Kim Byunghun, head of the National Action for the Abolition of the Comfort Women Law.

According to the police, Kim is suspected of holding an unauthorized rally near Seocho High School and Muhak Girls’ High School, including displaying banners that insulted the comfort women and the Statue of Peace.

Seocho Police Station is serving as the lead investigative agency for cases involving the insult of the Statue of Peace and unauthorized illegal rallies, after taking over the cases from Jongno Police Station and Seongdong Police Station in Seoul, as well as Yangsan Police Station in South Gyeongsang Province.
