Earlier, Governor Kim visited the Gyeonggi Province Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters situation room to receive a briefing on the response. He stated, "It is fortunate that the roads were cleared of snow before the morning commute, so there were no major accidents or inconveniences beyond the usual traffic congestion. Although the snow has stopped, please continue to manage the situation carefully after the snowfall to prevent road icing."
Gyeonggi Province activated Emergency Response Level 1 from 1 p.m. on January 19. Under Emergency Response Level 1, six teams across thirteen departments are working jointly to manage the situation, provide emergency livelihood support, and carry out facility damage restoration, while cooperating with cities and counties for proactive situation management and emergency preparedness.
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province is operating 8,129 cold wave shelters, including senior centers, community centers, and libraries, as well as 67 emergency shelters and 35 mobile worker shelters. In addition, the province is conducting safety checks via phone calls and text messages for 67,000 vulnerable seniors and 140,000 households in health-vulnerable groups.
