Damyang-gun in Jeonnam has conducted intensive training for members of its capture team to prevent safety accidents that may occur during the process of capturing harmful wild animals.
According to Damyang-gun on January 19, the county held safety training on January 16 at the Damyang Eco Center Eco Education Hall for the operation of the "2026 Mobile Capture Team for Harmful Wild Animals."
The training was attended by county officials, Damyang Police Station, and expert instructors from the National Hunters Participation Solidarity. They focused on practical, field-oriented content for the capture team members, including the updated system for capturing and managing harmful wild animals, related compliance requirements, and firearm safety rules.
The Mobile Capture Team for Harmful Wild Animals is organized annually, mainly consisting of professional hunters. It operates to reduce damage to crops and human life caused by wild animals such as wild boars and water deer, and to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).
In particular, the county has significantly strengthened safety management to prevent firearm accidents during the capture process. Team members are now required to wear safety vests and fluorescent bands, and a dedicated application is used to share capture routes in real time among team members. This systematic approach has been established to completely eliminate the risk of accidental shootings.
Lee Kangim, Director of the Environmental Division of Damyang-gun, stated, "While capturing harmful wild animals is important, preventing loss of life and property due to accidental shootings is our top priority. We will spare no administrative support to ensure the safe operation of the mobile capture team."
