According to the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post (SCMP), Kozue Sakurada, a 50-year-old Japanese woman, has lived with scars related to her appearance since her school days. Her friends would openly say, "You are really ugly," and some even made up songs mocking the shape of her nose.
These experiences weighed on her life for a long time. Sakurada confessed that in her early twenties, even hearing someone laugh on the subway would make her feel like she was being ridiculed, filling her with anxiety and prompting her to hurriedly get off at the next station. Her inferiority complex about her appearance became a significant obstacle in her relationships and daily life.

The turning point came when she was 37. The moment occurred when her boyfriend broke up with her, saying, "I wish you were just a bit prettier." Although she was shocked, she chose not to resolve her issues through plastic surgery. Instead, she decided, "Let me start by understanding myself."
From then on, Sakurada began to systematically study makeup, skincare, and fashion. Over the past 13 years, she analyzed her face and style by taking more than 30,000 photos, ultimately discovering the makeup techniques and styling formulas that suited her best.
