Full-Scale Launch of Customized Job Services in 2026
City Sets Goal of 35,000 Job Placements in 2026
Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on January 19 that it has finalized the "2026 Gwangju City Job Center Operation Plan" with the aim of providing high-quality jobs to citizens by successfully connecting recruiting companies with outstanding talent. The city will offer comprehensive employment support, ranging from job counseling and job placement to employment training and recruitment events.
Reflecting the recent intensification of mismatches between job seekers and employers due to economic uncertainty in Gyeonggi Province and changes in the industrial structure, the city will move away from its traditional counseling-focused approach and operate an "On-Site Job Center" that visits companies directly. Through this initiative, the city will listen to companies’ hiring challenges on-site and strengthen hands-on support that leads to practical recruitment connections.
Tailored employment programs for different groups will also be expanded. Starting with "New Security Guard Training" in February, the city will offer job competency enhancement training and counseling programs for young people, while providing practical, certification-focused and reemployment-linked training for middle-aged and female job seekers. For seniors, job training focused on the care and service sectors will be offered, establishing a customized job support system for each stage of life.
On-site events aimed at expanding recruitment opportunities will be held throughout the year. In October, the "2026 Gwangju City Job Fair," featuring participation from more than 20 companies, is scheduled to take place. In addition, regular events such as ongoing interviews, job seeker-employer meet-and-greet days, and joint interviews will be organized to continuously provide direct meeting opportunities between job seekers and companies.
The Gwangju City Job Center employs a total of 13 specialists, including dedicated center staff and job counselors assigned to each town and district office, providing integrated employment services from job counseling and placement to post-employment follow-up. The city aims to achieve more than 35,000 job placements annually and will continue to enhance service quality through counselor training and systematic performance management.
A city official stated, "In 2026, we will go beyond simple employment support and focus on field-oriented job discovery and tailored connections," adding, "We will do our utmost to provide citizens with stable jobs and connect companies with the talent they need through practical employment support."
Meanwhile, the Gwangju City Job Center plans to relocate to the 10th floor of the "Gwangju City Welfare Administration Town" in March 2026 to improve accessibility and convenience for citizens. Job-related counseling will be available through the Gwangju City Job Center or job counselors stationed at administrative welfare centers in each town and district.
