Jinju City Council Hosts "Welcome Day" Youth Council Experience Program for Winter Break

Offering Youth Hands-On Opportunities
for Open Democracy Experiences

The Jinju City Council in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 19th that it held the council field trip program "Jinju City Council Welcome Day" for upper-grade elementary school students and their families.

"Welcome Day" is an experiential event designed to introduce and allow participants to experience the roles and functions of local councils in an easy and friendly way, tailored to the perspective of youth.

First launched during last summer vacation, this event expanded the council field trip experience-which had previously been offered mainly to groups-to individual participants, receiving a great response. As a result, it is planned to be held twice a year starting this year.

The main programs will include: ▲ an OX quiz for participants ▲ a Q&A session with city council members ▲ a tour of council facilities ▲ and a cultural experience event (magic show).

In particular, during the "Q&A with City Council Members" session, children will have the opportunity to freely ask questions about the council and city administration and receive direct answers, creating a space for open communication.

At the conclusion of the event, a magic show will be held for families to enjoy together, providing both educational value and a cultural experience.

Applications for participation will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the official Jinju City Council social media posts for two days, from the 20th to the 21st. Participation is free of charge.

An official from the Council Secretariat stated, "We hope this event will help youth better understand local councils and naturally experience the value of democracy," adding, "We will continue to expand open council promotion programs tailored to the perspectives of citizens."
