This training program was established to enhance understanding of product planning and design processes by integrating digital technology into the region’s leading fashion sewing industry, thereby boosting industrial competitiveness. The training is being held at Seoil University for six local apparel manufacturing companies selected through a preliminary application process, and will run for two weeks with three-hour sessions on weekdays.

The curriculum is tailored to the digital transformation of the fashion industry and focuses on practical, work-ready content. Participants will use the 3D fashion design software “CLO” to explore virtual garment design and learn basic methods for conceptualizing products in a digital environment.

In particular, this training introduces a “university student mentoring” approach to support sewing company workers who may not be familiar with digital devices. Two students from the Department of Fashion Industry at Seoil University have been assigned as dedicated mentors to assist with hands-on practice and class comprehension. Through this initiative, participating companies are able to quickly acquire new technologies, while students gain practical experience by interacting with industry professionals, resulting in a mutually beneficial partnership between academia and industry.

The district expects that this program will help small-scale sewing businesses strengthen their in-house planning and brand development capabilities, improve production efficiency, and enhance their overall sustainability.

Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, “In today’s rapidly changing industrial environment, the adoption of digital technology is essential for our district’s sewing companies to remain competitive. We will continue to actively support the sewing industry’s transformation into a cutting-edge, high value-added sector through ongoing collaboration with local universities and specialized institutions.”
