Logs Fell from Truck During Unloading Process
A tragic accident occurred in Jangheung, South Jeolla Province, where a former member of a local council was killed after being buried under a pile of logs during work.
According to the Jangheung Police Station and fire authorities on January 18, at around 2:34 p.m. the previous day, a former Jangheung County Council member, referred to as Mr. A, was found buried under a pile of logs at a lumber yard in Yuchi-myeon, Jangheung County, by a colleague who then reported the incident.
It was reported that Mr. A was already deceased when discovered.
An investigation found that Mr. A had loaded wood onto a 1-ton truck and was moving it to the unloading area when the accident occurred.
The colleague who first reported the incident told police, "Mr. A went to move the wood, but when he did not return for a long time, I went to the site and found that an accident had happened."
The police believe that the wood loaded on the truck fell all at once during the unloading process, burying Mr. A, and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
