The Daegu Metropolitan Government will recruit 1,892 households as preliminary tenants for permanent rental housing in 2026 to promote housing stability for low-income and vulnerable groups. Applications will be accepted for two weeks from February 2 to February 13 at local administrative welfare centers in each township, town, or neighborhood.
Eligibility is limited to members of households without home ownership who are registered residents of Daegu as of the date of the preliminary tenant recruitment announcement. Qualified applicants include recipients of livelihood or medical assistance, national merit honorees or their bereaved families, victims of the Japanese military comfort women system, single-parent families, North Korean defectors, and registered persons with disabilities.
This recruitment covers 1,892 households out of a total of 19,156 permanent rental housing units in Daegu (12,356 units in 11 complexes operated by LH Corporation and 6,800 units in 5 complexes managed by Daegu Urban Development Corporation).
Households wishing to apply must submit a supply application form to the administrative welfare center with jurisdiction over their address. The Daegu Metropolitan Government will review the applicants’ home ownership status, household income, and asset levels to select the final list of preliminary tenants, with results scheduled to be announced after May 8.
Selected preliminary tenants will be able to sign contracts in order of priority if existing eligible tenants do not sign or cancel their contracts.
The recruitment notice can be found on the Daegu Metropolitan Government website. For more information, please contact the Daegu Housing Division, the relevant district or county office, or the local administrative welfare center.
Meanwhile, since 2009, the Daegu Metropolitan Government has been working with Daegu Urban Development Corporation to improve the quality of permanent rental housing through the Public Rental Housing Facility Improvement Project. In addition, the city is operating a Permanent Rental Housing Deposit Support Program, which provides interest-free support for up to 50% of the rental deposit for residents of the five permanent rental housing complexes managed by Daegu Urban Development Corporation, helping to ease the financial burden on tenants.
Hong Sungju, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu, stated, "We hope that this supply of permanent rental housing will serve as a reliable housing ladder for low-income citizens struggling with high inflation and rising housing costs. We will continue to strengthen field-oriented housing welfare services and build a robust safety net for housing security."
