The Jeonnam Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation visited Naju City, where highly pathogenic avian influenza occurred, together with the Naju Livestock Cooperative on the 15th to inspect the quarantine situation. They also encouraged the joint quarantine team staff who have been working tirelessly on disinfection activities every day.
This on-site visit was organized to once again emphasize the importance of preventive quarantine measures in response to the continued occurrence of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the Jeonnam region, and to commend the efforts of staff members performing quarantine work on the front lines.
There were 22 cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza nationwide in December of last year, and an additional 6 cases have been reported in January, indicating a rapid horizontal spread.
In Jeonnam, five cases have occurred in Naju, an area densely populated with duck farms, making intensive quarantine management essential to prevent further spread. In response, the Jeonnam National Agricultural Cooperative Federation is actively supporting quarantine efforts in these densely populated farming areas by providing quarantine supplies such as quicklime and disinfectants.
Director Lee Gwangil said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the joint quarantine team staff who are doing their utmost on the ground to prevent further spread." He added, "The Jeonnam National Agricultural Cooperative Federation will strengthen on-site support, such as distributing quarantine rule posters for foreign workers and providing quarantine supplies, and will make every effort to prevent additional outbreaks."
