Recently, Gulf News reported that "a merchant who ran a mobile phone shop in Tripoli, Libya, received a shipment of Nokia mobile phones in 2026 that he had ordered back in 2010."

The mobile phones in question were ordered in 2010 and handed over to a local courier, but they were never delivered to the merchant located near downtown Tripoli. The outbreak of the Libyan civil war in 2011 and the subsequent political turmoil effectively paralyzed the logistics and customs systems. It was reported that the phones were left in storage for over a decade.

The merchant released a video on social networking services showing himself opening the package. In the video, the package contained multiple old-fashioned Nokia mobile phones with physical buttons. The merchant joked, "Is this a mobile phone or an artifact?" and burst into laughter.

The package reportedly included early Nokia models and high-end versions with music features, which were extremely popular at the time. The media outlet stated, "The scene vividly illustrates how much mobile technology has changed since 2010."

The video quickly spread on social networking services and became a hot topic. The media pointed out, "This incident serves as a reminder that conflicts have long-term impacts on trade and the everyday economy," adding, "Since the fall of the Muammar Gaddafi regime, Libya has remained divided between the Tripoli government and eastern factions, with ongoing logistics disruptions and administrative vacuums."
