New Album to Be Released on March 20... First New Work in Three Years and Nine Months
Largest-Ever World Tour to Begin in April
BTS is returning with an album that embodies the Korean sentiment at the root of the group.
On January 16, their agency Big Hit Music announced through the fan platform Weverse, "BTS will release their fifth full-length album 'Arirang' on March 20." This new album comes three years and nine months after their anthology album 'Proof,' which was released in June 2022, and will feature a total of fourteen tracks.
The core theme of this album is "return." Instead of elaborate English rhetoric, the group has chosen "Arirang," Korea's representative folk song, as the title track. The agency stated, "Ahead of this long-awaited comeback, we focused on the group's origins and their inner stories," adding, "It symbolically expresses the longing and deep love held by members who started in Korea and have now taken the world stage." The intention is to evoke universal empathy from a global audience through the most quintessentially Korean theme.
The album release will also mark the beginning of the largest world tour in K-pop history. Starting at Goyang Sports Complex on April 9, BTS will perform a total of 79 concerts across 34 cities worldwide. The tour will introduce a "360-degree stage," allowing audiences to view the artists from all angles. This strategy aims to physically broaden the field of view, reduce the psychological distance between artists and fans, and maximize immersion in the performances.
