This meeting has been organized to proactively review the city's major key projects for 2026. Mayor Lee Byungseon will preside, with Vice Mayor Bae Sangyo, the relevant bureau directors, the Chief Secretary, and the Director of Planning and Budget in attendance. Heads (directors, secretaries-general) and team leaders from 29 departments, the Facilities Management Corporation, and the Cultural Tourism Foundation will participate to closely examine the annual implementation plans for major pending projects.

This year, the city will strengthen organic collaboration between bureaus by shifting from the previous department-by-department reporting system to a bureau-based reporting system (including the designated bureau director system). Through this change, the city aims to break down silos between departments and enhance the completeness of key projects ahead of the city council's work briefing scheduled for February.

The meeting will discuss major key projects for 2026, including the "Sokcho English Library Construction," "Expansion of Sokcho Park Golf Course and Installation of Noise Barriers," "Establishment of the Native Plant Garden Ecological Trail (Section 2)," "Urban Flood Response Project (Phase 1)," "Attracting Anchor Companies Linked to Public Institutions and Opportunity Development Zones in the Seoul Metropolitan Area," and the "Yeongrangho Tourist Complex Development." Sokcho City plans to focus its administrative resources to ensure that these key projects are carried out according to the planned schedule.

Mayor Lee Byungseon stated, "2026 will be the year when the projects promoted by the 8th popularly elected administration bear fruit," and added, "During the remainder of my term, I will do my utmost with a sense of urgency to overcome the challenges of low birth rates, an aging population, and the risk of regional extinction, and to create a sustainable 'Compact City Sokcho.'"
