Suryun-myeon in Seongju County Launches "Dawn Snow Removal Operation" to Prevent Accidents on Icy Roads

Immediate Response After Rain and Snow Freeze on the Morning of January 15
Staff Tackle Steep Slopes Inaccessible to Equipment with Shovels in Hand

In the early morning hours when everyone was still asleep, Suryun-myeon in Seongju County (headed by Kim Kyungran) fought on the frozen roads to ensure residents could start their day safely.

Following recent snowfall, a sudden rain shower in the early morning of January 15 froze due to subzero temperatures. To prevent accidents and traffic congestion, Suryun-myeon launched an all-out emergency snow and ice removal operation before sunrise.

This snow removal effort began at dawn, as soon as the roads started to freeze, with public officials, wildfire monitors, and snow removal equipment immediately dispatched to the scene.

To complete the work before residents began their morning commutes, Suryun-myeon moved quickly, focusing on the main roads and village entrances within the district.

While snow removal vehicles spread a mixture of calcium chloride and sand to eliminate ice on major arterial roads, Suryun-myeon staff personally tackled the so-called "blind spots" for snow removal-narrow alleys and steep slopes inaccessible to equipment.

Despite the biting early morning cold, staff members used shovels to spread de-icing agents by hand, working hard to clear icy patches.

This operation prioritized areas with high foot traffic and regions particularly vulnerable to accidents, focusing on minimizing daily inconveniences for residents caused by icy conditions.

Kim Kyungran, head of Suryun-myeon, stated, "The rain that fell at dawn caused the roads to freeze, raising concerns about residents' safety during their morning commute. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and related personnel from the early morning hours, we were able to prevent accidents. We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and maintain an immediate response system to ensure residents' safety."

Meanwhile, Suryun-myeon plans to thoroughly prepare for any future snowfall by re-inspecting snow removal equipment and maintaining an emergency on-call system for personnel, making every effort to ensure a safe winter for all residents.
