In this evaluation, which was conducted by dividing local governments into four groups-metropolitan, city, county, and district-24 out of 243 local governments nationwide, including Hwaseong City, were selected as outstanding. With this recognition, Hwaseong City has been named an excellent institution for regulatory innovation for seven consecutive years, including the Excellent Institution Certification Program.
The city received high marks for practical regulatory improvement cases that businesses and citizens can directly experience, such as identifying regulatory improvement tasks for the central government, resolving long-term suspended projects in the region, and operating on-site meetings to address regulatory difficulties faced by local companies.
To promote the transfer of the designated waste landfill in Ujeong-eup and the installation of a food waste treatment facility-long-standing demands of residents-the city emphasized the necessity of these projects to the Ministry of Environment and the Han River Basin Environmental Office, citing the need to ensure safety and resolve environmental pollution, and formally requested revisions to relevant laws.
Additionally, the city received positive evaluations for identifying regulatory improvement tasks through on-site communication, such as operating the "Mobile Local Regulation Reporting Center," and connecting these findings to institutional reforms.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, stated, "We will continue to connect voices raised in the field to institutional improvements, steadily carrying out administration that provides practical help to daily life and economic activities."
