Search and Analyze Korean Medicine Experimental Data "All in One Place"

National Institute for Korean Medicine Development Officially Launches "Korean Medicine Laboratory Information Management System"

An online platform has been launched to reduce the burden on researchers in searching for and organizing Korean medicine experimental data.

The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development (Acting President Song Sujin) recently officially opened the Korean Medicine Laboratory Information Management System (KLIMS) and began full-scale service.

The Korean Medicine Laboratory Information Management System is a platform that systematically provides experimental information related to herbal medicines in one place, enabling researchers to utilize the necessary data more easily and efficiently.

By accessing the system, users can simply enter the name of a medicinal herb or prescription using the keyword-based search function to find related experimental information and research papers.

There is no longer a need to search through multiple databases as before.

When a research paper is clicked, the system automatically analyzes the abstract and organizes the main keywords.

This allows researchers to quickly grasp the core content of a paper, helping them set the direction for their research.

The table data extraction feature, which converts table images within papers into files, also makes it easy to reanalyze experimental results or use them for subsequent research.

Within the Korean Medicine Laboratory Information Management System, users can check key experimental information by category, such as toxicity, pharmacokinetics, biological activity, and drug interactions for each herbal medicine.

In particular, the system visually displays the relationships between herbal medicines, diseases, and targets (proteins), allowing users to understand complex correlations at a glance.

The Korean Medicine Laboratory Information Management System is designed not only for simple information viewing, but also with consideration for the actual utilization process by researchers.

Now that experimental data, previously provided only as images, has been structured, data reusability and analytical efficiency have greatly improved.

It is expected to serve as a valuable resource not only for researchers, but also for those working in industries related to herbal medicine.

The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development plans to continuously expand detailed experimental information for each herbal medicine and add a function for analyzing herbal medicine-disease associations using network pharmacology analysis.

Based on this, the institute also plans to gradually introduce artificial intelligence models for predicting the safety and efficacy of herbal medicines, as well as interactive chatbot services.

Song Sujin, Acting President of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, stated, "The Korean Medicine Laboratory Information Management System is focused on providing data services that researchers can actually 'use' in the field," adding, "We aim to create an environment where experimental data on herbal medicines can be more easily found, analyzed, and utilized, thereby enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of Korean medicine research."

The Korean Medicine Laboratory Information Management System is available on the website of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development.
