GS25 to Export PB Ramen 'Omori' Series to Japan's Don Quijote

A Bestseller with Over 100 Million Units Sold in Korea
Now Available at 485 Don Quijote Stores Across Japan

GS25, the convenience store operated by GS Retail, announced on January 15 that it will expand its export lineup to Don Quijote, Japan's leading variety shop.

This decision comes after GS25's private brand (PB) and differentiated products, which were exported last year, received an enthusiastic response, selling out quickly at Don Quijote stores. As a result, the "Omori" series, including GS25’s PB ramen such as Omori Kimchi Stew Ramen and Omori Kimchi Cheese Stir-fried Noodles, has been selected as an additional export item. According to the company, the global boom in K-ramen has also played a major role in this successful export deal.

Since its initial launch at the end of 2014, the Omori series has surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 100 million units. Since its debut, it has consistently maintained a top position among cup noodles, outpacing manufacturer brand (NB) ramen.

With its differentiated recipes featuring kimchi, the Omori series has already achieved notable success in overseas markets. GS25 currently exports the Omori series to the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and with its entry into Don Quijote in Japan, the total number of export destinations has expanded to 32 countries.

The GS25 Omori series will be available at all 485 Don Quijote stores across Japan. The company also plans to introduce unique marketing strategies utilizing the Omori series. Both companies are discussing the export of new products in addition to the PB ramen lineup.

Previously, GS25 began overseas exports in 2017 with sales of 200 million won, and went on to receive the "3 Million Dollar Export Tower" in 2020, the "7 Million Dollar Export Tower" in 2022, and last year was awarded the "10 Million Dollar Export Tower."

GS25 has also expanded into Vietnam (407 stores) and Mongolia (283 stores), and has set a goal to surpass 700 global stores this year and reach 1,000 global stores next year. Kim Hyejung, GS Retail's Export/Import MD Team Manager, said, "By significantly strengthening the export capabilities of the GS25 brand and products, we are growing beyond the domestic convenience store industry to become a global retail brand. We will further solidify our strategic partnership with Don Quijote in Japan, while continuing to expand collaborations with various countries and leading distribution channels."
