From Ice Safety to Visitor Flow... Andong City Council Inspects Winter Tourism Blind Spots

Enhancing the Operation of "Sanseong Village Winter Land"
Through On-Site Administration at the Korean Culture Theme Park

On January 14, the Andong City Council visited the Korean Culture Theme Park to inspect the current use of the facilities and to review the overall operation of the "Sanseong Village Winter Land" festival, a signature winter tourism content.

The purpose was to enhance safety management standards and simultaneously improve operational efficiency and visitor satisfaction through on-site, field-oriented administration.

On this day, the council received a progress report on the festival from the relevant departments and thoroughly examined the condition of the ice rink, the status of safety facility installations, and the management of protective equipment. The council also checked whether auxiliary devices were available and whether the deployment of safety personnel was appropriate.

Additionally, the council reviewed visitor convenience factors such as heating in waiting areas and rest spaces, focusing on identifying any safety or convenience blind spots that could arise during winter operations.

In particular, this on-site visit highlighted key tasks that will determine the festival's sustainability and competitiveness: improving accessibility, expanding safety facilities, and optimizing on-site movement flow and operational efficiency.

The council shared effective improvement measures to accommodate an increase in visitors and discussed concrete directions, ranging from issues that can be addressed immediately to those requiring phased supplementation.

Chairman Kim Kyungdo stated, "Through this on-site inspection, we have comprehensively reviewed the operation of 'Sanseong Village Winter Land,' which is being run as a signature winter tourism content," adding, "The council will spare no effort in providing attention and support to ensure that the Korean Culture Theme Park can establish itself as a year-round tourism hub."

This on-site initiative by the Andong City Council goes beyond a simple inspection, drawing attention to whether it will lead to enhanced content quality and strengthened tourism competitiveness based on safety.

The on-site inspection was not a mere formality. The Andong City Council meticulously reviewed every aspect, from the ice rink's freezing condition to the heating of waiting areas and the deployment of safety personnel, clearly upholding the principle that "safety comes before popularity" in festival operations. Attention is now focused on whether the Korean Culture Theme Park and "Sanseong Village Winter Land" can grow into year-round tourism assets beyond short-term events, and whether this on-site administration will result in tangible improvements.
