BYN Blackyak Group announced on January 15 that it held a book talk event on January 13 at C-SQUARE in Gangnam, Seoul, to commemorate the publication of Chairman Kang Tae-sun's book, "The World Is Outside the Door."
Published in December last year, "The World Is Outside the Door" encapsulates Chairman Kang Tae-sun’s management philosophy and outlook on life, tracing his journey from launching a one-pyeong mountaineering gear and equipment shop to building Blackyak into a beloved brand renowned both in Korea and abroad for its advanced technology and trendy designs. This is Chairman Kang’s third management book, following "The Summit Is in My Heart" and "Today Is Another Challenge."

This book talk was organized to share the 50-year management journey and stories of challenge of Chairman Kang Tae-sun, a first-generation entrepreneur who laid the foundation for Korea’s outdoor industry and developed Blackyak into a global brand. The event was attended by about 160 people, including readers, Blackyak Alpine Club (BAC) “100 Famous Mountains” finishers, and Blackyak Young Sherpas. The session was hosted by Son Minkyu, a mountaineering enthusiast and the humanities book producer at Yes24, who is also the author of "Mountaineering Before Meals."
The book talk covered a wide range of topics, including the background behind publishing his third management book, experiences and insights gained from climbing the Himalayas, his approach to work and people as a business leader, and Blackyak’s journey into the global market. Chairman Kang candidly shared his thoughts and engaged in open conversation with the audience.
When asked about the motivation for publishing the book, Chairman Kang said, "I wanted to inspire courage and a spirit of challenge in the next generation, based on the lessons I have learned over more than 50 years in management." He added, "For me, the Himalayas are not just a climbing destination, but the very foundation that enabled Blackyak to grow over the past five decades." On this day, Chairman Kang also spoke honestly about the trial and error he experienced as a business leader.
Song Yerim, a member of the 7th class of Blackyak Young Sherpas who attended the book talk, said, "Through this event, I was able to reflect once again on the wisdom of life and the value of challenge learned in the mountains and nature. It also strengthened my resolve not to waver in the face of new experiences."
Chairman Kang Tae-sun stated, "It was a meaningful occasion to share the path BYN Blackyak Group has walked over the past 50 years with so many people," adding, "I hope that my experiences will serve as nourishment for many young people, giving them the courage to believe in themselves and move forward."
