Restoration with AI and Disaster Monitoring by Satellite... National Heritage Administration R&D Call

Two Fields: Intelligent Preservation and Climate Change Response
Applications Accepted via IRIS Until February 25

Restoration with AI and Disaster Monitoring by Satellite... National Heritage Administration R&D Call National Heritage Administration Building Exterior

The National Heritage Administration announced on January 15 that it will invite applications for new projects under the "2026 National Heritage Research and Development (R&D) Program," with a total budget of 9.1 billion won, until February 25.

The call covers two areas: ▲Development of intelligent advanced preservation technologies for national heritage (eight projects) and ▲Development of preservation and management technologies for national heritage in response to climate change (twelve projects), for a total of twenty projects. Applications will be accepted through the Integrated Research Support System (IRIS) for all ministries.

The intelligent advanced preservation area focuses on the field application of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and digital twins. Key projects include AI-based automatic restoration design for architectural heritage, prediction of pest outbreaks due to climate change, and ultra-precise digital restoration technologies for movable cultural heritage.

The climate change response area emphasizes disaster prediction and rapid recovery. Projects will develop disaster warning systems using satellite data, prediction of internal humidity changes to prevent flood damage, and automated restoration technologies using Heritage Building Information Modeling (H-BIM).

The National Heritage Administration will finalize the implementing organizations through expert evaluation in early March and will begin full-scale research starting in April.
