Kia Establishes Subsidiary in Indonesia... Facelifted Carens to Launch Next Month

Aiming for 40,000 Units in Sales by 2030

On January 14, Kia announced the establishment of a new subsidiary in Indonesia and unveiled the facelifted model of the Carens, which will go on sale starting next month.

Kia has now established its sixth subsidiary in the Asia-Pacific region, following Thailand, India, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand, by launching its Indonesian branch. Previously, 'PT Kreta Indo Artha' was responsible for Kia vehicle sales and brand management in Indonesia. However, from now on, the newly established Kia Indonesia subsidiary will directly handle these functions. It will oversee not only marketing but also brand development, providing services tailored to the local market environment.

Kia also unveiled the facelifted Carens model for the first time in Indonesia on this day. Although it was released and has been on sale in India since May last year, it will only become available in Indonesia starting next month. As a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the facelifted Carens features a spacious interior, incorporates a modern design, and offers improved driving convenience.

Starting in November this year, the Kia Indonesia subsidiary also plans to produce the electric vehicle 'Carens EV' at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) in Bekasi, Indonesia.

Kia first entered the Indonesian automotive market in 1994 through an equity investment. Last year, the company sold only 277 units-including the Carens, Seltos, Sonet, Carnival, and EV9. This year, Kia aims to increase sales to 2,000 units, with a goal of expanding to 40,000 units by 2030.
