Winter Play Becomes Local Tourism
An ice sledding park that preserves the essence of rural winter has opened in Jungyul 2-ri, Sinpyeong-myeon, Uiseong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province.
Uiseong-gun announced that, to mark the New Year 2026, it has opened the Jungyul 2-ri ice sledding park and will officially operate it as an experiential winter space for both residents and visitors to enjoy together.
The Jungyul 2-ri ice sledding park is a traditional winter play area that utilizes natural ice formation, offering the value of a "slow winter" that is distinct from urban festivals. Every year, it attracts families, establishing itself as a lifestyle-oriented attraction that generates demand for extended rural tourism during the winter season.
The sledding park is located in Sinpyeong-myeon and will be open until February 22. It operates from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both weekdays and holidays. On-site, visitors can enjoy simple winter snacks such as fish cake skewers, rice cake skewers, coffee, and cup noodles, adding warmth to the experience.
Safety management has also been further strengthened. The condition of the ice is checked frequently every day, and visitor flow and guidance systems have been enhanced to ensure that children and families can enjoy the park with complete peace of mind.
Kim Jihyung, the head of Jungyul 2-ri, said, "The ice sledding park offers children a new experience and brings back childhood memories for adults. This year, we have prioritized safety and convenience, and I hope many people will visit Jungyul 2-ri to enjoy the pleasures of winter."
In a season when snow and ice have disappeared, the Jungyul 2-ri ice sledding park can be seen as both a "restoration of memories" and a "regional strategy." Rather than grand facilities, this small winter playground, created by the hands of the community, is a living example of how rural seasonal resources can be transformed into tourism and community vitality.
Under the leadership of County Governor Kim Joosu, Uiseong-gun plans to enhance regional competitiveness by expanding seasonal rural resources into lifestyle tourism content. The Jungyul 2-ri ice sledding park is drawing attention as a winter scene that showcases this potential in advance.
