This agreement was pursued to strengthen the foundation for cooperation in building a future advanced medical industry cluster in the region and to systematically expand the local medical infrastructure.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Mingeun, Mayor of Ansan, Kim Jongryang, Chairman of Hanyang Academy, Lee Gijeong, President of Hanyang University, and Yoon Hojoo, Director of Hanyang University Medical Center.
Previously, Ansan City and Hanyang University had signed two business agreements in 2019 and 2022 to attract Hanyang University Hospital and jointly conducted a preliminary feasibility study.
With this new agreement, the scope of cooperation has been expanded beyond Hanyang University to include the Hanyang Academy and Hanyang University Medical Center.
According to the agreement, the participating institutions will form and operate a working-level consultative body. This body will review the introduction of specialized medical facilities such as a general hospital and a cancer treatment center, and discuss and coordinate necessary matters throughout each stage of the project.
The consultative body will finalize specific implementation plans, including the size and type of the hospital, the construction start date, and the opening schedule, through discussions within the working group, and will release this information to the public.
Lee Mingeun, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "We will spare no administrative support to expand medical infrastructure that citizens can truly experience and to establish a solid foundation for the medical industry through the advanced medical complex cluster."
