The "smart shelter" is an enclosed facility designed to protect bus users from extreme cold and heat. The shelters are equipped with amenities such as air conditioning and heating units, air purifiers, wireless phone chargers, and lighting.
This installation was carried out to improve transportation convenience for citizens visiting the district offices, particularly ahead of the opening of Manse District Office and Hyohang District Office. The shelters were installed in the following areas: one in Bibong-myeon, three in Hyangnam-eup, one in Namyang-eup, two in Yeongcheon-dong, and two in Osan-dong.
As a result, the number of smart shelters in the Hwaseong area has increased from 39 to 49. The city plans to add smart shelters at 30 more bus stops by the end of the year.
Jung Myunggeun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "We plan to continuously expand public transportation infrastructure in line with a community-centered administrative system," adding, "We will make every effort to enhance related facilities so that all citizens, including those with transportation challenges, can use public transportation more safely and conveniently."
