GS Engineering & Construction announced on January 14 that it is competing for the redevelopment project of Seongsu District 1, which is considered the largest project along the Han River with a business scale reaching 2 trillion won, and is proposing its differentiated strategy, "Beyond Seongsu."
GS Engineering & Construction is approaching this bid not simply as a business opportunity, but as a chance to demonstrate the achievements accumulated since its rebranding anniversary to the market. The company has completely revamped its internal management system with a focus on safety and quality, and has worked to restore trust across its housing business. GS Engineering & Construction plans to concentrate these efforts in Seongsu District 1.
In addition, the company has prepared the slogan "Beyond Seongsu," aiming to surpass the existing value of Seongsu-dong. Rather than engaging in uniform high-end competition, the company has set a unique vision of "the high-end above high-end," with the goal of making Seongsu District 1 a "landmark for the next 100 years."
The entire Urban Renewal Business Division is fully mobilized to support the bid for Seongsu District 1. Headquarters staff are directly involved in supporting the bid, actively listening to the voices of association members, and aim to become a reliable partner for project success through swift decision-making and sincere communication. The company intends to go beyond simply promoting its brand and focus on the essence of the redevelopment project, sincerely engaging with association members.
For this project, GS Engineering & Construction plans to leverage the technological capabilities and global design expertise of its residential brand, Xi. The company is collaborating with world-renowned architects, including David Chipperfield Architects, led by David Chipperfield, a Pritzker Prize-winning architect often referred to as the "Nobel Prize of architecture." Together, they are preparing innovative designs that maximize Seongsu-dong's unique urban sensibility and Han River views. Based on its design capabilities, which have won the world's top three design awards, the company aims to create a residential landmark representing Seoul.
The company also plans to propose differentiated residential solutions that encompass both hardware and software, including five-star hotel-level concierge services exclusively for residents, new technologies to reduce inter-floor noise, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart home systems.
A GS Engineering & Construction official stated, "Seongsu District 1 is a key site that can newly define the residential paradigm in Seoul in terms of location and symbolism," adding, "We will introduce a highly sophisticated residential space befitting Seongsu District 1, based on our proven quality competitiveness and trust."
