Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on January 14 that it has signed a business agreement with three startup support organizations to widely promote a safety culture at construction sites.

The agreement includes the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, the Seoul Business Agency, and the Seoul Creative Economy Innovation Center. Hyundai Engineering & Construction and the three organizations will work together to identify and nurture innovative companies in construction safety, as well as jointly operate an open innovation program. They will also launch customized support programs for the selected companies. A contest focused on construction safety will be held, with applications accepted until February 8. Entries will be accepted in four categories: safety innovation technology, safety equipment, health and environment, and safety culture. Both early-stage startups and small and medium-sized enterprises are eligible to participate, and the final selection of companies will be made around the end of March.

The selected companies will receive opportunities for technology verification and business development funding, as well as the chance to participate in follow-up collaborative projects. They will also receive support for promotion, marketing, and attracting investment. A company representative stated, "The safety technologies and services selected through the contest will undergo technology validation and will be actively applied at Hyundai Engineering & Construction sites."
