Samsung Asset Management announced on January 14 that it has newly published "THE TAX SAVING BOOK. Kodex Brokerage-Type ISA Investment Guidebook" for individual investors who manage their assets through brokerage-type Individual Savings Accounts (ISA).
The ISA is a representative tax-advantaged account introduced by the government to provide opportunities for asset building, and along with pension accounts, it has become an "essential tax-saving account." The brokerage-type ISA is highly versatile, as it allows direct investment in a variety of financial products-including ETFs, domestically listed stocks, bonds, and funds-all within a single account.
The biggest advantages of an ISA account are its "tax benefits," "offsetting gains and losses," and "the possibility of partial withdrawals." For the general type, tax exemption applies to net profits up to 2 million won, and for the basic type, up to 4 million won. For taxable profits exceeding these limits, a low separate tax rate of 9.9% is applied. In addition, not only can gains and losses from multiple financial products be offset so that only net profits are taxed, but investors can also freely withdraw only the principal they have contributed at any time. For these reasons, the ISA is often referred to among investors as the "ultimate tax-saving account."
The Kodex Brokerage-Type ISA Investment Guidebook focuses on helping investors effectively utilize the brokerage-type ISA system, establish investment strategies tailored to their objectives, and set steadfast investment principles in a changing market environment. The guidebook covers topics that individual investors are most curious about, including △ the brokerage-type ISA system and its tax benefits, △ 18 essential ETFs and recommended portfolios based on customer characteristics, and △ frequently asked questions (FAQ) about ISA investing.
The "Kodex Brokerage-Type ISA Investment Guidebook" includes 18 ETFs that can be used for various investment objectives-ranging from representative indices and AI themes to monthly dividends-as well as sample portfolios based on different investment styles.
For investors seeking high returns, the guidebook recommends strategies using not only representative index ETFs such as Kodex 200 and Kodex US Nasdaq 100, but also AI-themed ETFs like Kodex Semiconductor and Kodex AI Core Power Equipment.
For those seeking a balance between returns and stability, it recommends portfolios that combine representative indices and AI themes with monthly dividend ETFs such as Kodex 200 Target Weekly Covered Call and Kodex US Growth Covered Call Active.
For investors who prioritize stable cash flow, the guidebook suggests portfolios that include representative indices and monthly dividend ETFs, as well as Kodex Gold Active and Kodex Money Market Active.
Detailed information on the 18 recommended ETFs for brokerage-type ISA investment and their respective portfolios can be found in the guidebook, which can be easily downloaded and used from the Kodex website without separate membership registration.
Kim Dohyeong, Head of ETF Consulting at Samsung Asset Management, introduced the brokerage-type ISA account as "a representative national account that offers both tax benefits and investment flexibility."
He added, "The guidebook is focused on providing practical standards so that investors-whether they are new to brokerage-type ISA accounts or already using them-can select ETFs and build portfolios according to their investment objectives."
He further stated, "I hope that through the Brokerage-Type ISA Investment Guidebook, investors can enjoy tax-saving benefits and plan ETF portfolios suited to their needs, thereby accumulating more successful investment experiences."
