Annual Production of 3.18 Million kWh
Significant Reduction in Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Kolon Industries has completed the construction of a 2.4 MW solar power generation facility at its Gumi plant.
Kolon Industries announced on January 14 that it had installed solar power facilities by utilizing idle spaces such as the roof and upper structures of the parking lot at the Gumi plant. The new facilities are expected to generate approximately 3.18 million kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the annual power consumption of about 900 households of four people. This will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1,459 tons.

This project was carried out in collaboration with GS Energy. In March of last year, Kolon Industries signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GS Energy to introduce renewable energy power for carbon neutrality, and construction began in August of the same year. Kolon Industries stated that the solar panels installed above the parking lot will not only generate electricity but also serve as a shade, thereby improving parking and working conditions for employees.
With the introduction of this facility, Kolon Industries plans to expand the use of renewable energy and accelerate its energy transition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The company received an A grade for two consecutive years in the corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) assessment conducted by the Korea ESG Standards Institute last year, and also received an A grade in the climate change category from the global climate change assessment organization CDP.
Kolon Industries aims to achieve RE100 (100% renewable energy) and carbon neutrality by pursuing both renewable energy projects such as solar power and improvements in energy efficiency in the future.
