The Blue House stated on the 13th regarding the special prosecutor's demand for the death penalty for former President Yoon Seok-yeol on charges of rebellion related to the December 3 emergency martial law, "We believe the judiciary will deliver a verdict that is consistent with the law, principles, and the expectations of the public."

The Blue House spokesperson's office made this statement in a press release issued to the media on the afternoon of the same day, immediately after Cho Eunseok and the special prosecution team on the rebellion case demanded the death penalty for former President Yoon.

At the final trial held under the Criminal Division 25 of the Seoul Central District Court (presided over by Chief Judge Ji Guyon), Special Prosecutor Park Eoksoo explained the reason for the sentencing request in his closing statement, saying, "The destruction of constitutional order committed by public office elites must be punished even more severely than the cases of former Presidents Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo."
