Jongcheol Hwang Inaugurated as Daegu Labor Office Chief: "Will Link Local Government with Job Creation Projects"

Jongcheol Hwang (age 54) was inaugurated as the 14th Director of the Daegu Regional Employment and Labor Office on January 13, 2026.

Director Hwang stated that during his tenure, he would strive to eradicate wage arrears, create safer jobs by preventing industrial accidents, and establish a labor-management relationship based on autonomy, coexistence, law, and principles.

Director Hwang particularly emphasized his commitment to making Daegu-Gyeongbuk a region where young people can settle by linking local government initiatives with job creation projects.

After passing the technical civil service exam in 1993, Director Hwang served as Director of Industrial Safety at the Ministry of Labor, Director of the Gyeonggi Branch of the Central Labor Office, Director of the Gwangju Labor Office, Standing Commissioner of the Seoul Labor Relations Commission, and Director of Labor Policy, among other positions.
