[Breaking] Special Prosecutor Seeks Death Penalty for Yoon Suk-yeol as 'Leader of Insurrection' Former President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was indicted on charges of leading an insurrection related to the December 3 emergency martial law, attended the sentencing trial for the charge of leading an insurrection held in Criminal Courtroom 417 at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 13th, where he was seen conversing with his lawyers.

The trial on that day is scheduled to proceed in the order of examination of documentary evidence by Yoon’s defense team, final opinions and sentencing recommendations by the special prosecution, final arguments by the defense, and closing statements by the eight defendants.

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was indicted on charges of leading an insurrection, has been recommended for the maximum legal sentence of death.


On the 13th, Cho Eun-seok, head of the special prosecution team for insurrection, requested the court to impose this sentence during the sentencing trial held before the Criminal Agreement Division 25 (Presiding Judge Ji Guyoun) at the Seoul Central District Court.
