[Weather Tomorrow] Morning Temperatures Drop Over 10 Degrees... Beware of Icy Roads on Your Commute

On Wednesday, the 14th, Seoul will experience a severe cold wave, with the morning low dropping to minus 9 degrees Celsius.

Morning lows will range from minus 15 to minus 2 degrees Celsius, which is lower than the seasonal average, while daytime highs are expected to be slightly higher than usual, ranging from minus 2 to 11 degrees Celsius.

Inland areas of Gyeonggi Province, inland and mountainous regions of Gangwon Province, the Chungcheong region, and parts of Gyeongsang Province, where cold wave advisories have been issued, will see morning temperatures drop by more than 10 degrees Celsius. Other regions will also see temperatures fall by about 5 to 8 degrees Celsius.

Winds will be somewhat strong, making it feel even colder, but temperatures are expected to rise from the afternoon.

As melted snow refreezes overnight, icy roads and black ice may form, so caution is advised for road safety.

The sky across the country will be mostly cloudy at times, becoming increasingly overcast from the afternoon.

From late at night, snow or rain is expected in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province. In northern Gyeonggi Province and northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, light snow flurries of less than 0.1 centimeters or raindrops of less than 0.1 millimeters may fall from late afternoon into the night. Other parts of the Seoul metropolitan area and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province may also see these conditions at night.

Dry weather advisories have been issued for the east coast of Gangwon Province and the Gyeongsang region. Other areas may also experience dry conditions.

Wave heights in the sea will range from 0.5 to 3.5 meters off the east coast, and from 0.5 to 1.5 meters off the west and south coasts.

In offshore waters (about 200 kilometers from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 1.0 to 5.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the South Sea.
