The ruling and opposition parties have agreed to hold a confirmation hearing for Lee Hyehoon, the nominee for Minister of Planning and Budget, at 10 a.m. on January 19.
The National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee adopted a confirmation hearing plan containing these details during a plenary session held on the afternoon of January 13.
Initially, the ruling and opposition parties were scheduled to process the confirmation hearing plan for the nominee the previous day. However, due to difficulties in reaching an agreement over the selection of witnesses, the committee meeting was postponed by one day.
The People Power Party requested about 30 witnesses and reference persons, including officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to verify allegations of workplace abuse and verbal harassment by Lee's aides, as well as suspicions of real estate speculation. However, the Democratic Party reportedly did not accept this request.
After continued negotiations, the parties agreed to select four witnesses and one reference person.
