The Chinese government has decided to extend anti-dumping tariffs on solar-grade polysilicon from South Korea and the United States for another five years.
On January 13, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on its website that "if the anti-dumping measures are terminated, there is a likelihood that dumping of solar-grade polysilicon originating from the United States and South Korea into China will continue or recur, and that damage to China's solar polysilicon industry will persist or recur."
Previously, in January 2014, China imposed anti-dumping tariffs on solar-grade polysilicon imported from South Korea and the United States for five years. In 2020, the country extended the tariffs for another five years after a review. When the expiration date for the tariffs approached, China decided last year to conduct another review.
Following adjustments, the tariff rates now range from 4.4% to 113.8%, depending on the company. Major Korean solar companies Hanwha Solutions and OCI are subject to anti-dumping tariffs of 8.9% and 4.4%, respectively.
