Younghan Song and Minkyu Kim Join Team Korean Golf Club
Byung-Hun An: Two Wins in Europe, Top Prize Money Earner Without a PGA Victory
Younghan Song: Two Wins in Japan, Minkyu Kim: Three Domestic Titles
Byung-Hun An, a member of the PGA Tour, will move to LIV Golf for the 2026 season.
On January 12 (local time), LIV Golf announced that it would change the name of the existing Iron Heads team to Korean Golf Club. It has been reported that Byung-Hun An, Younghan Song, and Minkyu Kim will compete in LIV Golf for the 2026 season. According to their former and current sponsors and management companies, these players will play in LIV Golf starting this year.
Byung-Hun An, the son of table tennis stars Jae-Hyung Ahn and Zhao Zhimin, has participated in 229 PGA Tour tournaments but has not secured a victory. He has earned a total of $21,535,424 (approximately 31.75 billion KRW) in career prize money, ranking first among players without a win.
If Byung-Hun An, who has two career wins on the DP World Tour, moves to LIV Golf, it will inevitably require a redefinition of his relationship with his current sponsor, CJ Group. An, who is under contract until the 2027 season, will not be able to participate in the PGA Tour’s The CJ Cup Byron Nelson if he transfers to LIV Golf. Due to LIV Golf’s requirements to wear team caps and golf apparel, it will also become difficult to display sponsor logos. It is reported that Byung-Hun An has already informed CJ Group that he is considering a move to LIV Golf. He is now in the final stages before officially confirming the transfer.
The transfers of Younghan Song, who has two career wins on the Japan Golf Tour (JGTO), and Minkyu Kim, who has three career wins on the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association (KPGA) Tour, to LIV Golf have been confirmed. Younghan Song participated as a substitute player at LIV Golf Miami in April last year, and Minkyu Kim played as a substitute in the LIV Golf Korea tournament in May last year. Song’s sponsorship contract with Shinhan Financial Group expires at the end of 2025, and he has already notified the company of his move to LIV Golf during contract extension discussions. Minkyu Kim, who signed a sponsorship contract with Chong Kun Dang in January last year, will compete in both LIV Golf and the KPGA Tour.
