Korea Investment Corporation Reviews Venture Investment Opportunities with Korean Startup Alliance in Silicon Valley

8th Silicon Valley International Financial Cooperation Council Held

The sovereign wealth fund Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) invited Korean investors active in Silicon Valley and local experts to review the latest trends in venture investment and identify new investment opportunities.

Korea Investment Corporation announced on January 13 that, on January 12 (local time), its San Francisco office hosted the 8th Silicon Valley International Financial Cooperation Council in the United States.

This edition of the International Financial Cooperation Council was held in conjunction with the United Korean Founders (UKF), an alliance of Korean startups in Silicon Valley, and the 'East Meets West Summit' event.

The event was attended by more than 200 participants, including local venture capital firms, asset management companies, and Korean startup founders in Silicon Valley, who strengthened their mutual networks.

Isaac Kim, Partner at venture capital firm Lightspeed, gave a presentation on 'Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) of Mature Companies,' reviewing the current state of venture investment and introducing investment strategies. He stated, "When technology-based companies that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) services achieve scale-up and business roll-up through M&A, their corporate value is expected to rise." He added, "Companies with the potential to innovate existing software with AI can attract attention as suitable targets for growth private equity (Growth PE) strategies."

Park Yoomi, Head of the San Francisco office at Korea Investment Corporation, commented, "It was a meaningful opportunity to review the latest market trends alongside top investment experts in Silicon Valley." She added, "We will continue to collaborate with various organizations and serve as a focal point for the local Korean institutional investor community."

Meanwhile, Korea Investment Corporation operates overseas branches and offices in major global financial centers, including New York and San Francisco in the United States, London in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Mumbai in India. Each overseas branch and office strives to share overseas investment information and build cooperative frameworks with domestic public and private financial institutions active in the local markets.
